What is this forum all about?

The purpose of this forum is two-fold.

It originally cropped up to field questions and to disseminate information about Pseudome Studio's Visual Novel project, Errant Heart. It still serves that purpose. But, this forum aims to accomplish something greater now.

We want to foster a community of the more learned, or advanced EVN (English Visual Novel) creators. The forum is an excellent resource for beginners, or for those who just want to toy around with Visual Novels and Ren'Py. I would encourage everyone who is just starting down the path of Visual Novel creation to visit first.

These forums, however, are for creators striving towards something greater: original, high quality, full-featured, completed Visual Novel games. It doesn't particularly matter if a creator is aiming for a commercial release, or for an art piece. The only details that matter is that we want these forums to be a repository for advanced creators who have either a proven track record of creating finished works (I don't mean just Visual Novels, but any sort of project: comics, animation, other types of games, etc.), or have obvious advanced skills in their field.

All that said, I want to be very clear about our intentions. This forum doesn't exist to stroke the egos of artists. It isn't our intent to be haughty and condescending towards beginners. However, just as beginners need a certain level of support and a specific atmosphere in which to thrive and advance, those who are more learned need their own environment in which to thrive and advance. Attempting to cater to both ends of the spectrum typically results in neither end getting very good support.

Thus, the reason why we created this forum. is an excellent place to start off on one's journey into Visual Novel creation. But once you outgrow the place and start looking for advanced knowledge, we would encourage you to frequent and participate in these forums.
